NEW BRAUNSFELS, Texas - The 2020 season for AAU Football is not over yet! It may be 2021, but football still has one of its biggest tournaments yet in Texas this weekend. The AAU Unrestricted Football Tackle National Championship is set to kick off on Saturday, Jan. 9 and Sunday, Jan. 10 to one of the largest number of athletes participating for the event.

Last year the event drew 21 teams across the south and east part of the States. For 2020, more teams were itching for a chance to hold that National Championship trophy, totaling 39 registered teams. The approximately 1,200 athletes will compete in five different age divisions, including 6U (Flag), 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U.

The festivities will begin in a round-robin format on Saturday, Jan. 9 with the elimination bracket starting Sunday, Jan. 10. Games will take place in the New Braunfels area at Canyon High School, Canyon Middle School, Church Hill Middle School and Danville Middle School. Be sure to doublecheck the schedule here so that you arrive at the correct field.
